For social service and community-oriented clients, like nonprofits or local governments, my consulting services are often sought to assist with a specific dilemma for which standard interventions have not worked, for instance high staff turnover, leadership burnout, or community opposition to development. My work may include one-on-one meetings with members of leadership or direct service teams to explore unconscious roadblocks or other unique dynamics that impede systemic change. I may also help organize and facilitate community engagement groups to address the concerns of residents and business owners. My services are developed in collaboration with my client and can be structured as short-term (e.g. if grant-funded) or ongoing.
For organizational clients, my consulting services begin with a one-on-one meeting, typically with a CEO or other designated leader of an organization. I will want to find out more about my client’s approach to leadership and begin to understand more about the dynamics of the organization as the client sees them. This will be followed by meetings with other leaders within the organization in order to begin to gain a deeper understanding of the culture and its strengths and challenges.
For leaders and their executive teams, I offer regularly scheduled in-person and video meetings alongside as-needed services by email and phone, for which I charge a monthly retainer. Much as many companies have a lawyer on retainer, I believe the benefits of retaining a psychoanalyst for consultation can prove invaluable. For leaders who prefer to meet in one-to-one coaching only, I charge an hourly rate. My fee varies based on the size of the organization, and my contracted services can be terminated with a day’s notice.
